**Note: Alternatives has a new schedule this year. The conference will begin with registration opening at 9 am on Wednesday, December 4th, and an opening luncheon at 11:30 am. The conference will continue with workshops, caucuses, keynote speakers, exhibits, and breakfast and lunch provided through Saturday, December 7th, ending with a luncheon at 1 pm.

Hotel Accommodations

The Radisson hotel is within walking distance of the Hyatt (just across the Congress Avenue bridge which has a walking lane. A 10 minute walk, .4 mile)

Radisson Hotel and Suites - Austin – Downtown, 111 E. Cesar Chavez, Austin

  • The Alternatives conference hotel rate is $139 per night (for either a single or double room), and is available from Sunday, Dec. 1 to Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013.
  • This discounted rate is available until Nov. 27, 2013, or until all rooms are booked, whichever occurs first.
  • The Radisson has wireless internet, a fitness center, and self-parking for $17 per day (additional for valet parking). Lake view and city view rooms.

Southpark Area Hotels

The southpark area hotels are 4 miles from the Hyatt Regency where the Alternatives conference is being held. A shuttle bus will be available for transportation to the Alternatives site from early in the morning until late each evening at no charge to riders. The buses will be making this circle continuously.

  • 5:30 pm -10:30 pm Tuesday evening (for people who want to attend the Opening Welcome/Arts Reception from 7:30 to 9:30 pm)
  • 7 am through 11 pm Wednesday through Friday
  • 7 am through 3 pm on Saturday

Hampton Inn, 4141 Governor’s Row, Austin (Southpark area)

  • The conference discount hotel rates are $99 for single / $119 for double per night, available Tuesday, Dec. 3 through Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013.
  • The Hampton has breakfast, wireless internet, and free parking.

Omni Austin Hotel Southpark, 4140 Governor's Row, Austin

  • The Omni has a free shuttle from the Austin airport. Call the hotel at 512-448-2222 and give them your flight arrival time. The shuttle leaves the airport at half past each hour. The shuttle returning to the airport leaves the Omni on the hour. Tell the hotel in advance which shuttle you will be taking to return to the airport.
  • The conference discount hotel rates are $99 for single / $119 for double per night, available Tuesday, Dec. 3 through Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013. HOWEVER, the hotel may have sold out of double rooms.
  • The Omni has complimentary self parking and valet parking is $9 per day. (If guests sign up for the free Omni Select Guest program, they can enjoy complimentary perks including in-room wi-fi, morning beverage delivery, pressing of clothes, shoe shine, etc.)

The 2013 Alternatives conference will be held at the:

  • The conference discount rates are: $115 (plus tax) each night for one person $139 (plus tax) each night for 2-4 people sharing a hotel room.
  • Wireless internet is free guest rooms and the lobby. We have a special self-parking rate of $8.50. Valet parking is additional. More hotel information at: www.austin.hyatt.com.
  • The Hyatt Regency hotel is sold out for the night of Tuesday, December 3rd. Rooms may be available for Wednesday, December 4th through Sunday, December 8th.

Transportation

Information about distance from airports to the Hyatt Regency Austin and the shuttle rates follows:

  • Air: The closest airport is AUS (Austin, TX).
  • Airport Super Shuttle: Transfer from the airport to the hotel is $14 per person. Reservations are not required for transport from the airport to the hotel, but advance pickup arrangements must be secured to travel from the hotel to the airport. Please call super shuttle 512-258-3826 or contact the hotel concierge to arrange a pickup.
  • Taxi: Taxi transportation to and from Hyatt Regency Austin is approximately $20 - $27 for one passenger.
    Taxi transport to the Amtrak station is approximately $5 (1.5 miles).
  • Local Transit: The city bus is $1 fare for three stops.
  • Driving: Parking is available at the hotel. The reduced self-parking rate for our conference is $8.50 a day with in/out privileges. (Valet parking is separate and additional.)
